HKUST MBA Community Succession Scheme

HKUST MBA Program Admissions (Academic Year 2021/22)

Over the years, we have received many valuable referrals of potential candidates from our HKUST alumni worldwide for the admissions of the HKUST MBA programs. Since these candidates already have an in-depth understanding of HKUST and our programs through engaging with our alumni, they often prove to be a great fit with our programs and are keen to join HKUST MBA family.

At the same time, we have received regular enquiries from alumni on how they can show their support to high potential candidates. As a result, the HKUST MBA Community Succession Scheme is launched to facilitate the arrangement.

You will be eligible to join the scheme if you are:

  • Candidate referred by HKUST MBA or EMBA alumni or
  • Candidate graduated from any HKUST degree program (excluding short-term courses)*

 Under the HKUST MBA Community Succession Scheme (academic year 2021/22), you will be entitled to:

  • Application fee waiver (HKD 1,000);
  • Guaranteed admissions interview and
  • Tuition fee reduction of HKD 30,000 at the time of admissions (for candidates who successfully pass our MBA admissions assessment)

How to Join the HKUST MBA Community Succession Scheme

Step 1  HKUST MBA/EMBA Alumni to Identify Talents and Be Their Referees

For all HKUST MBA or EMBA alumni, you are most welcome to recommend talents within your network to join the HKUST MBA program by serving as referee for the recommended candidates.  By serving as a referee, you need to submit an online reference form as part of the recommended candidate’s application. (More details in Step 3)

Each MBA or EMBA alumnus/alumna can recommend up to 5 candidates for each academic year.

Step 2  Candidate to Indicate an HKUST MBA/EMBA Alumnus/Alumna as Referee in the Online Application

The recommended candidate must indicate an HKUST MBA or EMBA alumnus/alumna as his/her referee and input the referee’s contact details and passport name in the referee section of the online application. Upon receipt of the alumni’s contact details, an online reference form will be sent automatically to the email address provided.

Step 3  Alumni Referee to Complete the Online Reference Form

Upon receipt of the online reference form (see sample form), alumni referee should provide in the form his/her

i) Program name (MBA or EMBA);
ii) Year of graduation and
iii) Student ID for verification.

Step 4  Candidate to Select ‘HKUST Alumni Referral Waiver’ Before Application Submission

It is important that the candidate indicates his/her referee as our HKUST MBA or EMBA alumni prior to clicking 'Send Reference Form' button in the application.  No subsequent changes can be made once reference form requests are sent.

Before submitting the online application, the candidate must select ‘Alumni Referral’ as the payment method of the application fee in his/her online application.  Otherwise, the candidate will be asked to settle the application fee by online payment. Once payment is made, no subsequent change will be allowed.  The waiver request will be reviewed and approved by our Admissions Team upon verifying the alumni referee’s identity and receipt of the completed reference form.

Remarks:

*Candidates who are HKUST alumni will automatically be eligible for the Scheme. They are required to indicate HKUST as his/her undergraduate or postgraduate university in the online application.  And prior to submitting the application, the candidate must select ‘Returning Alumni’ as the payment method of the application fee in his/her online application. The waiver request will be reviewed and approved by our Admissions Team upon verifying the alumni identity.

**The HKUST MBA Community Succession Scheme is mutually exclusive with the Company Nomination Scheme (CNS) and other scholarships / professional awards offered by HKUST. Candidates awarded with more than one of them can only retain one while need to forfeit the others.
