Federal Student Aid for U.S. citizens
If you are a U.S. citizen, you may be eligible for the Direct Stafford Loans administered by the U.S. Department of Education. Visit www.fafsa.ed.gov for more details.
Financial Aid for Canadian citizens
The Bank of Montreal offers the Professional Student Line of Credit scheme for admitted MBA candidates from Canada. The loan is available at a competitive rate with a maximum credit limit of around HK$380,000. For more details, please visit the section under Student Professionals here.
Financial Aid for Hong Kong residents
If you are a Hong Kong resident, you may be eligible for a Non-Means Tested Loan provided by the Government Student Financial Assistance Agency. The maximum loan is capped at the tuition fee payable, and the loan repayment period can extend to ten years after program completion. Our program is also listed as a reimbursable course by the Continuing Education Fund. This provides reimbursement of up to HK$10,000 for those who fulfill the criteria.
Financial Aid for Indian citizens
Credila, a non-bank finance company, offers an education loan to Indian citizens attending overseas universities. The loan is available at a competitive interest rate and can be up to 100% of educational expenses. Please visit Credila’s website here for more details.
Financial Aid for Singaporean citizens
The following two education loans are available for admitted MBA candidates from Singapore at a competitive rate.
Overseas Education Loan from Maybank
A maximum credit limit of around SG$150,000 or eight times the monthly income of applicants.

Education Loan from RHB Bank

Financial Aid for U.K. citizens
If you are a UK resident and are intending to work in the UK, the EU or the EEA when the program finishes, you may be eligible to get a Professional and Career Development Loan (PCDL). It is a deferred repayment commercial bank loan program administered by The Skills Funding Agency, in partnership with participating banks. The loan amount ranges from £300 to £10,000. The Skills Funding agency will pay the interest on the loan to the bank on behalf of successful applicants while they are studying.

- Given limited access to local financial schemes, international students studying in Hong Kong are strongly encouraged to arrange study loans in their country or region of residence.
Scholarships and Awards
- Various scholarships and awards are available to our full-time MBA students. Scholarships offered by the MBA Office or other donors are used to settle program fees, living expenses, etc.
HKUST MBA Merit Scholarship
The Merit Scholarship is offered to the top 10-20% of admitted candidates who demonstrate strength in work exposure, international exposure, academic performance, references and interview performance. Admitted candidates are automatically considered for this scholarship and there is no need for a separate application.
Scholarship amount:
HK$50,000 to HK$200,000
HKUST MBA Need-based Grant
The MBA Grant is offered to admitted candidates with genuine financial needs. Those who wish to apply need to provide financial proof. Candidates will be invited by email to apply for this scholarship after they have submitted the online application form with the application fee for our full-time MBA program. The deadline of the MBA Grant application is within one week after the interview.
Scholarship amount:
HK$50,000 to HK$150,000
The Outstanding Leadership Award
Students who live by the code of conduct, demonstrate strong leadership via MBA Association, Student Clubs or other channels, and whose initiatives contribute significantly to the MBA community by
- enhancing students' learning experience, and/or
- expanding useful industry network for the school, and/or
- strengthening corporate relationships for the school, and/or
- bringing in quality new HKUST MBA students, and/or
- strengthening HKUST MBA's brand and reputation
during their MBA study will be considered for this award.
Scholarship amount:
HK$300,000 (A maximum number of 2 awards)
Application details will be announced at the student orientation program in August 2013.
Scholarship for non-Asians with Asia exposure or language proficiency in Chinese or an Asian Language
Candidates of non-Asian nationalities with at least 15 years living in that non-Asian country, and fulfilling any one of the following requirements can apply for this scholarship:
- An undergraduate degree majoring in Asian studies, or
- Prior Asia exposure, which can either be work experience or education that has lasted for at least 2 years, or
- Conversational in either Putonghua, Cantonese or an Asian language
Those who wish to apply need to submit an essay/PPT/video together with the application form. Candidates will be invited by email to apply for this scholarship after they have submitted the online application form with the application fee for our full-time MBA program. The deadline of the scholarship application is within one week after the interview. Candidates who only fulfill the requirement of language proficiency in Chinese or an Asian language may be required to have an interview with a native speaker of that language.

Scholarship for Asians with international exposure
Candidates of Asian nationalities with at least 15 years living in that Asian country, and prior work experience or education in any country outside Asia for at least 2 years can apply for this scholarship. Those who wish to apply need to submit an essay/PPT/video together with the application. Candidates will be invited by email to apply for this scholarship after they have submitted the online application form with the application fee for our full-time MBA program. The deadline of the scholarship application is within one week after the interview.

Scholarship for candidates from Africa, Latin America or Middle East interested in China business
Candidates of African, Latin American or Middle Eastern nationalities with at least 15 years living in that country and an interest in China business can apply for this scholarship. Those who wish to apply need to submit an essay/PPT/video together with the application. Candidates will be invited by email to apply for this scholarship after they have submitted the online application form with the application fee for our full-time MBA program. The deadline of the scholarship application is within one week after the interview.

Jebsen Scholarship (For permanent residents of China and Hong Kong)
Donated by Jebsen & Co. Ltd., the Jebsen Scholarship is available to full-time MBA students who are permanent residents of mainland China or the HKSAR. Selection will be based on candidates’ academic background, work experience, and career interest. Candidates shortlisted for interviews are invited to apply.

TABS Scholarship (for talents from North America and selected European countries)
With the fast growing interest in top Asian Business Schools from global talents, four Top Asia Business Schools (TABS), including HKUST Business School, jointly offer 4 TABS scholarships to recognize the top notch talents from North America and Europe. Participants of any TABS pre-fair panels* in fall 2012 who are admitted into HKUST Business School will be automatically considered for this scholarship. The top HKUST admitted candidate from this group will be awarded with this merit-based scholarship totaling USD15,000.

”La Caixa” & Casa Asia Scholarship Program to Study an MBA in Asia (For Spanish nationals)
Candidates who are Spanish nationals may be eligible to apply for this scholarship sponsored by the Caja de Ahorros y Pensiones de Barcelona (LaCaixa) Foundation and Casa Asia.
Scholarship amount:
It covers the full tuition fee and also offers flight tickets, monthly allowances at HK$15,000 as well as other financial assistance. For further details, please visit here.
Talentia Fellowship Program for Spanish Professionals
Our program is the only MBA program in Hong Kong listed under the Talentia Fellowship Program by the Ministry of Economy, Innovation and Science in Andalusia, Spain for EU citizens having a connection with Andalusia by birth, residence, work, university or blood.
Scholarship amount:
It covers the full tuition fees, living allowance and air tickets, and also offers assistance in joining the Andalusia job market upon program completion. For further details, please visit here.
The MBA Scholarships Program for Kuwaiti candidates
HKUST is one of the approved universities for this scholarship administered by the Kuwait Investment Authority, which Kuwaiti candidates are eligible to apply.
Scholarship amount:
It offers a monthly stipend of HK$34,000, book and computer allowances of HK$28,000, and flight tickets among other financial aids. For further details, please visit here.
QS Scholarships (For QS fair participants)
Admitted candidates who have participated in the QS World MBA Tour or World Grad School Tour may be eligible for:
- The QS Leadership Scholarship if they demonstrate an exceptionally strong leadership potential and innovative thinking, or
- The QS Community Scholarships for MBA and Postgraduate Studies if they demonstrate an exceptional level of socially responsible leadership and an ability to motivate others

Other scholarships and awards
Through the generous support of companies and organizations in Hong Kong, scholarships and awards ranging from HK$10,000 to HK$50,000 are also available to students with outstanding academic achievements and personal qualities. Nominations depend on the specific criteria set by donors. Students can apply for these scholarships during the course of their MBA studies.
* Most scholarships are mutually exclusive. Students awarded more than one of them can only retain one scholarship and forfeit the rest.
