Advancing Your Career
- The HKUST MBA Career Development Office helps you advance your career through a range of services and resources along all four of the Career Advancement "C"s. We begin by helping you "Clarify" your career interests and goals. Next we help you identify and develop the professional "Capabilities" you need to secure target jobs. We also coach and help you "Connect" with the relevant business community. Finally, we provide additional tools to help you "Convince" recruiters.

-
Understanding your interests, values, strengths and weaknesses is the first step to success in career planning. We employ self-assessment tools and individual career counseling/coaching to help you determine your optimum career path and identify your goals.
-
Individual sessions with our counselors/coaches are available. These sessions are useful to help you clarify your goals and develop personalized job search strategies.
-
We hold workshops and provide training resources on topics ranging from CV writing and interview skills to business etiquette and networking to prepare you for your job search. Mock interviews can also be arranged to prepare you for real interviews.
-
Companies are regularly invited to make presentations on their businesses and recruiting practices. This is a great way to learn more about different industries and learn more about specific company cultures.
-
Individual contacts and being in the right place at the right time often lead to job opportunities. Students are encouraged to attend off-campus networking events to meet professionals from a variety of industries. Our Alumni Development Team also organizes informal social functions that bring alumni and students together.
-
A summer internship will allow you to gain valuable work experience between the first and second years of academic studies. This will be a unique opportunity to explore a new industry or possibly a new career, offering you and an employer the chance to evaluate each other. The recruitment and screening process is identical to a permanent job search, which means that you will have an early trial-run through the job interview process.
-
Our MBA Resume Book featuring all current students is compiled every year and sent to our large corporate recruiter database.
-
Our Student Career Intranet provides information on the latest events, training opportunities, job openings and useful references for job interview preparation. HKUST MBA students also have privileged access to job sites Global Workplace and MBA-Exchange.com for job postings targeting MBA degree holders. Recruiting partners will post their job openings on our online job board as well.
-
The MBA Careers Library is for the exclusive use of MBA students and is well stocked with reference materials, business periodicals, and company directories. In addition, students can also access an online career reference library that offers comprehensive career guides and resources.
