Student Clubs
- Student-driven club activities are highly encouraged and supported by the HKUST MBA program. A number of students clubs have been initiated by students to enrich their academic experience and build competencies and relationships beyond the classroom. The followings are some of the examples.

Career-oriented Clubs

The China Club provides members with the networking and cultural experiences necessary to become successful professionals in China. Key executives from large corporations are invited to share their experiences of doing business in the country, offering insights into how successful careers are built in a dynamic and stimulating environment in China context. Members benefit from exchanging ideas with guest speakers, and from crossing cultural barriers to connect with leaders in a variety of industries in China.

The Consulting and Strategy Club is set up to provide members with easier access and knowledge about the skill set, recruitment procedures and general hindsight of the consulting industry through networking, project management and training as well as different workshops. The club holds a mission to make HKUST MBA program to be a known as a human capital provider for the consulting world.

Entrepreneurship Club provides a platform for like-minded people to exchange and discuss entrepreneurial ideas, form closer ties with HK’s start-up and Venture Capital and Angel Communities, and provides start-up support and partners. Respective activities includes exploration, discussion and evaluation of start-up ideas, business plan advice, joint events with other clubs, visits and collaboration with other supportive institutions in HK.

The Finance Club’s mission is to teach, network and prepare. It educates members about various corporate finance functions, fosters open discussion about financial markets, brings in industry specialists to share their experiences, helps members train for interviews, conducts CV reviews, organizes finance-oriented competitions and facilitates networking both within the club and with finance industry professionals.

Marketing Club provides students with the opportunity to share experiences, network, and build long-term careers in marketing. The club’s objectives include helping members to gain a broader understanding of the marketing field and become world-class leaders in the field with focus on industries including FMCG, Luxury goods and digital and media technology. Activities include marketing talks by guest speakers, company visits, participation in marketing competitions.
Other Cultural and Social Clubs

The Japan Club helps MBA students to develop insightful perspective into the unique Japanese business culture. Members are interested in a broad range of Japanese cultural traits and influences, and attend core learning sessions on such diverse topics as Japanese business etiquette, entertainment, and geography. The Club recently organized a trip to Japan that included visits to leading companies.

With growing interest in Korea around the world, the Korea Club is committed to meeting the needs of students who want to know more about this country. A variety of cultural and career events organized throughout the year will give students a firsthand experience on Korea and help them develop a better understanding of its culture and business community.

The Taiwan Club allows Taiwanese students to introduce and share elements of the unique Taiwanese culture with their MBA peers. Activities and trips are organized in both Hong Kong and Guangdong, through which members build good relationships with Taiwanese executives. The club recently organized a trip to Taiwan to familiarize members with typical aspects of Taiwanese culture and society.

Through various networking opportunities, the Diplomatic Club will help students build connections that penetrate into the diplomatic circle so that they will have established contacts not only with the business community but also with the government dignitaries after the MBA.

The mission of the club is to educate and equip students who are interested in emerging markets and relevant careers through increasing the understanding of issues, cultures and impact of emerging economies. Educational and career initiatives are supported through speaker events, periodic articles, visits and events at the individual Country Chambers of Commerce, workshops, trips and cultural activities.

The Energy Alliance brings together students, alumni, and professionals who share a passion for the energy and cleantech sector. Its goal is to make HKUST’s MBA program a place where tomorrow’s business leaders are equipped with the tools necessary to seize the vast opportunities on the path to a low-carbon economy. The Alliance organizes field trips to relevant energy conferences, invites speakers to share their views on cleantech business, technology, and politics, and helps its members with job prospects in the cleantech industry

Net Impact is the HKUST MBA chapter of an international nonprofit organization with a mission to inspire, educate, and equip individuals to use the power of business to make a positive net social, environmental, and economic impact. The goal of Net Impact at HKUST is to facilitate professional development, cross-industry knowledge-sharing, networking opportunities, and educational opportunities among members from diverse academic and professional backgrounds. Net Impact seeks all MBA students who wish to further their understanding and join the global dialogue of individuals and businesses pursuing social responsibility and economic and environmental sustainability.

The Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Club creates a platform to share industry knowledge and secure career opportunities in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries for HKUST MBAs. The club aims to bring together industry knowledge by leveraging students’ work experiences, connections with local businesses and liaisons with alumni and current students. Furthermore, we strive to promote this fast-growing area to our fellow classmates who are interested but are unfamiliar with the industry. The goal is to prepare ourselves for opportunities related to the various functional career tracks.

The Real Estate club seeks to leverage one of Hong Kong's main industries, real estate, to foster understanding and career opportunities for HKUST MBA students. By visiting key companies, industry conferences, and networking events in the city, students will gain exposure to employers from the real estate private equity, development, brokerage, and equities fields. The club also seeks to leverage students' past experiences and alumni contacts to enhance understanding of the industry and market trends.

The Women’s Leadership Club provides a support network that empowers and enriches the women of HKUST in their pursuit of leadership. Its goals are to provide opportunities for continual networking within and outside of the HKUST community, create supplemental education and development opportunities, foster meaningful partnerships with outside organizations, and cultivate fulfilling and rewarding lifestyles. It prepares its members to address challenges in the workplace, help improve female enrollment in business programs, and promote the HKUST brand along the way.

The mission of the Gourmet Club is to connect and educate MBA students on a wide variety of international cuisines available in Hong Kong. Through learning the culture, culinary art and history associated with food, it aims at strengthening the bond between the MBA students and other professionals in the city.

The Football Club aims at building friendship and enhancing teamwork through the practice of football. The club organizes Asian MBA Football Cup, plays regular football games against undergraduate and alumni teams and organizes football nights for major European football matches.

The Sailing Club aims at fostering team spirit, leadership and local and global networking by getting students and alumni involved in various sailing activities, while enjoying Hong Kong’s unique setting and vibrant sailing community. There will be introductory sailing lessons to beginners and networking opportunities for students and alumni by partnering HKUST sailors with skippers from the local sailing community.

The mission of the Wine Society is to provide interested students with an enhanced knowledge and appreciation of wine through educational and social events. The club encourages social cohesion with the class in a relaxed, informal atmosphere while promoting communication between professionals in Hong Kong working in industries of most interest and the MBA cohort.
