“I got to know HKUST through different touch points, like friends, family and through extensive research, and learned that the MBA program in HKUST is one of the top notch for its regional and global reputation, and location in Hong Kong as an international hub in Asia.”

Camille Hung Chiu Ming, a former FMCG market researcher, has embarked on a transformative journey by joining the Full-time MBA Intake 2023 at HKUST. With a passion for venturing into the field of management consulting, Camille aims to expand her industry knowledge and embrace new challenges. She recognizes that the HKUST MBA program will equip her with the necessary skills and experiences through engaging in overseas competitions and taking up leadership roles in clubs and organizations.

Prior to HKUST, Camille honed her skills in market research for FMCG companies, additionally gaining exposure to strategic planning for technology firms in the Philippines.  These experiences ignited her passion for management consulting - the ability to translate data and insights into impactful recommendations. Fueled by a long-held dream of pursuing an MBA and a desire to strengthen her leadership and soft skills, Camille embarked on the HKUST Full-time MBA Program in 2023 after thorough research.

Growth Beyond the Classroom

“Having attended an insightful public masterclass on negotiation made me reflect how I want to develop myself, and I wanted to be part of that excellent culture,” Camille recalled.

Six months into the program, Camille enjoyed immersing herself in a rich learning environment that extends far beyond the classroom walls. From casual encounters in the hallways, to dedicated feedback sessions with professors and alumni preparing for the overseas case competition, every interaction became a valuable learning opportunity, allowing her to bridge in-class learning to real-world business practices.  The months of preparation turned into fruition as Camille and her teammates proudly brought home the Gold award at the prestigious IESE Roland Berger International MBA Case Competition 2024.

“Having had the privilege to represent the school, we feel that the team has grown and developed into where we are now because of the help of the faculty, our alumni, and the school. Professor Chris Doran and the very supportive alumni Alexander from the consulting field gave us valuable feedback in terms of how to improve our presentations and recommendations. Throughout the Enhancing Professional Skills course, case competitions and the preparation sessions, we were able to prepare mentally, emotionally and physically along the way that helped us adapt to different circumstances when competing with other teams in a foreign city. I am more confident now in working with people from different backgrounds as well as tackling different cases or problems.”

To build well-rounded qualities for consulting success, Camille cultivates her leadership qualities through her active involvement in the Consulting and Strategy Club as one of the co-chairs. The Club recently organized a successful panel event themed on AI, sustainability, and business transformation, offering valuable insights into the evolving landscape of the consulting industry.

Consulting and Strategy Club, with Camille as one of the Co-Chairs, recently organized a panel event to provide valuable insights into the evolving landscape of the consulting industry.

“My tip for those who are interested in joining the full-time MBA program is to be active in joining organizations and leading clubs. You get to meet different people from not just those in your cohort, but also from our alumni network. The process of planning events and programs are great opportunities to practise leadership skills, brainstorm ideas and leverage the network.”

What’s Next

Looking ahead, Camille is particularly excited about an upcoming internship and going to London for an exchange, allowing her to integrate a global perspective as she shapes and solidify her consulting career.

“The Career and Professional Development Team at HKUST MBA works closely with me, providing guidance on interview dos and don'ts, valuable industry connection and resources to best prepare for my management consulting journey,” Camille states. “The exchange opportunity we  have is a supplementary element that makes the program very holistic and integrated.”
